1. RESURRECTION AND ASCENSION OF JESUS
After the Lord's crucifixion, He won over the power of death and resurrected. Further, He held the key to enter and leave Hades, the world of devil, at His will.
Mat 28:6 He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.

In general, when people die, their souls are to go to Hades(Rev 6:8). This is called the first death. Hades is the spiritual world where Satan governs. Hades is not placed under this earth, but outside of the universe. Therefore, soul can reach God's world only passing through the universe and Hades.
Rev 6:8 I looked, and there before me was a pale horse! Its rider was named Death, and Hades was following close behind him. They were given power over a fourth of the earth to kill by sword, famine and plague, and by the wild beasts of the earth.
After the Lord's resurrection, He took out souls of prophets and martyrs of the Old Testament period from Hades and guided them to the kingdom of Heaven. During Old Testament period, God could not take even His servants to heaven. Those who were confined in Hades could enter to the kingdom of heaven owing to the Lord's crucifixion, which made life-giving water that could extinguish sins. It is called the first resurrection when one dies and enters into God's kingdom. Further, those who participated in the first resurrection become heavenly armies.
Psa 16:10 because you will not abandon me to the grave, nor will you let your Holy One see decay.
Mat 27:52-53 The tombs broke open and the bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. They came out of the tombs, and after Jesus' resurrection they went into the holy city and appeared to many people.
Rev 20:4 I saw thrones on which were seated those who had been given authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony for Jesus and because of the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or his image and had not received his mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years. (The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended.) This is the first resurrection.
